Regen Powertech is planning to set up its second manufacturing facility at Udaipur in Rajasthan with an investment of Rs. 2200 million. It will produce generators as well as tower and blades. The facility will go operational by 2013. This unit will make blades of a design more advanced than the latest V87 that the blade manufacturer supplies from its Bangalore facility for ReGen.
Windar Renovables one of the larger global makers of wind tower is setting up a manufacturing facility in Vadodara, Gujarat. The facility is set up on 13500 sq.meter in joint venture with Gamesa Wind turbine. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 900 million. It will produce 240 tubular towers and will cater to clients like Gamesa, Alstom and Acciona.
Suzlon is planning to set up a new manufacturing facility for low speed wind turbine near Madurai in Tamil Nadu. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 500 million and it will be commissioned by 2012. This turbine is designed with advanced rotors, with diameters of 86.5 and 89 meters, and a tower height of 90 meters, which will bring improvements in energy yields of between 15 to 20 percent over the current S82 – 1.5 MW offering in low wind conditions. Additionally, it is designed specifically to operate in high temperatures.The company hopes to look at the potential of the off-shore wind power generation in Tamil Nadu.
Fedders Lloyd has commissioned its first phase of its expansion programme at its Bharuch manufacturing facility where it manufactures wind turbine towers for clients like Gamesa, Vestas, Inox and Kenersys. The new facility has a capacity to manufacture wind turbine towers upto the capacity of 3.0 MW and can fabricate high precision components upto 80 tonnes. The company is planning to invest a further Rs. 2000 million in capacity expansion.
