Wind Turbine prices have come down recently due to a variety of reasons. The first being the technology for wind turbine have been optimized, with growth in wind power sector lead to mass production resulting in economies of scale. Further, raw materials like steel have also gone down after 2008 and easing of finance has helped a lot. Now wind turbine are priced lower around 18% from Rs.535 million to Rs.500 million now. Wind turbine costs form 70-80% of wind power project costs.
With advanced technology, now wind masts are higher and generate more electricity. So a new wind map may discover more potential sites.
