Offshore wind power generation has high potential in India

Global majors like Siemens, Areva and GE are interested to venture into offshore wind power generation which has large advantages. A long coastline closer to consumption cities, cheap labour and availability of raw materials, absence of  land ownership issues make offshore wind power projects attractive. Sensing this potential Suzlon has acquired RE Power who has expertise in offshore wind power. In offshore generation, a large part of sea will be offered to developer who can build a minimum of 200-400 MW of wind power units.
