MNRE to implead against the CERC on RPO

Indian Wind Energy Association (IWEA) and Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturer Association (IWTMA) have already appealed against the state government on non-purchase of the obligatory Renewable Energy Certificates (REC). So far the state government are getting away with REC, as they are supposed to buy renewable power. This has put larger Investment in wind power sector in trouble as REC's made many renewable projects viable. Any amount of suasion from MNRE has failed and MNRE has asked it to be a party in their appeal to implead against the state governments.

Wind Energy Industry to dump turnkey model for development

Current trend in wind industry is to dump the erstwhile model of wind turbine equipment supplier to develop wind farm on turnkey basis. The earlier which was used by Suzlon and Vestas is not finding support from major players like CLP and Continuum. While the turnkey basis helped a small player, larger players tend to select wind site, operator and installations on case basis which results in better efficiency. It may be noted, turnkey deals were made by investors who opted for green power for tax breaks, so the efficiency was always in question. Many of the wind farms were left to rust, after the depreciation benefits were claimed.
